Apple’s New Operating System iOS 5 coming soon
Apples iOS 5 operating system has been previewed for the iphone, ipad and the ipod. And in less than a day it has been jailbroken by the iphone Dev team.
Now I own a iphone and I have never felt the need to jailbreak it, but if your wondering what jailbreaking is here’s a quick summary for you.
What does it mean to Jailbreak your iphone
The process of jailbreaking your iphone means that it can open up the device to do far more than apples operating system previously allows. Once your phone is jailbroken it can run apps and other software that has not been approved by the Apple Store. The process of opening up the iphone operating system has been around for years in fact ever since the first iphone came onto the market.
Should you jailbreak your iphone
To be honest I have been totally happy with my iphone and everything on it. I think Apple has done a great job with the iphone operating system, its stable and does what it says on the tin. But if you want to break away from Apple’s grip on your iphone then jailbreaking could be a way to go.
Sounds all a bit risky to me
In the past there was a risk of legal action, but that’s no longer a problem. The main risk is on a technical level. If you are allowing your phone to use third party, non-approved applications then this will carry the same risk as surfing the web. I know I’ve been in this situation, you download a program from the internet and think it looks ok, but after a while you come to realise that its stuffed full of malware and other nasty stuff. Well the same could happen to your iphone. With the average price of an app at 59p it doesn’t break the bank and you know its legit. And with so many free apps out there as well I really don’t see the point in trying to jailbreak your iphone.

Google Phasing out old browsers
If you searching for web design Swindon and your still running some of the older versions of Internet
Explorer of Firebox the you will need to upgrade soon to continue using Google’s online services. As of the 1st August 2011. Google Apps and Google sites
will no longer work properly with old version of browsers.
Google have recommended that you should upgrade to any of these:
- Internet Explorer 7.0+
- Mozilla Firefox 3.0+
- Google Chrome 4.0+
- Safari 3.0+
They are moving in this direction as part of a trend to stop the use of ageing browsers which can be insecure and not cleaver enough to handle the latest
web technologies.
